Dominique Cardon, Directeur de recherche émérite au CNRS, a reçu la Médaille d´argent du CNRS en 2011. Membre du groupe de recherche international Researchers into Dyes in History and Archaeology, elle est l´auteur de nombreux ouvrages et articles sur l´histoire des teintures naturelles et l´identification des colorants dans les textiles archéologiques qu´elle étudie. Elle collabore régulièrement à l´organisation des International Symposiums and Exhibitions on Natural Dyes (ISEND), congrès interdisciplinaires réunissant des centaines de passionnés des colorants naturels venus des quatre coins du monde. Elle a reçu en 2006 la Médaille de l´UNESCO "Penser et construire la Paix" pour cette action.
